Colored Lights

Dear World,

A meditation on colored light. Spinning through time and the stars, the lines of light are the veins of intention. The darkness a burning void settled in a nest of possibilities.

Statkia - Sherpa

Dear World,

This is a short Video Art piece that Stacey and I created while driving back from Santa Fe New Mexico. It was filmed on the land that Georga Okeeffe lived on near the end of her life.

The music is provided by my friends from AEQ Labs and Sad Planet.

Welcome to Oblivion

Dear World,

Welcome to Oblivion.

This is the latest production by the theater company "Penumbra Theatre."

I co-founded Penumbra Theatre along with Stacey Sotosky and LeAnn Brubaker.

Oblivion is the story of Inomy.

Our story begins in a small town just on the edge of the Dead Forest at the base of the Knowmore mountains.

A Young girl named Inomy lives there with her mother, father, and newborn brother. Though Inomy was born without the ability to see, she has always had an extra sense about her, which has helped her learn how to make her way about the forest that surrounds her family's home.

Deep in the forest there lives a Lady who was trapped in a cave at the base of the mountains. Long ago she went there to rescue her own Son from an evil Lord that had kidnapped her only child shortly after birth. The Lord refused to return the child to her, and so she struck him down. However, before his form fell to ashes, he cursed her so that she could never leave his cave. The Lady has been waiting ever since for an opportunity to find the child and get him back.

In the years that passed she saved and befriended a vampire bat name Bouba, who provided her with many magical tools including a crystal ball that allows her to search the world for her missing child.

Unfortunately for Inomy, her baby brother's eyes are familiar to the Lady of the Dead forest, and so she sends her minion to retrieve who she believes is her missing child.

Inomy will have to sacrifice everything if she is to rescue her brother and save her family for Oblivion.

Dave & Dave

Dear World,

This is a short video montage if my friends Dave and Dave. I admit the video is a bit dark, but there is still enough 'coolness' exuding from them that it is worth checking out. Dave throws down some amazing rope dart action and fire breathing, while Dave kicks out some capoeira fire staff magic.

Kind regards,

Alex

The Sand Queen at the FLC Ampitheatre

Dear World,

Here is the video from the Fort Lewis College performance of the Sand Queen's Ceremony.

While we only had about 40 people in the audience, and it was raining, I feel as though the performance went off quite well.

A few of our tricks worked for this performance that didn't for Dreamtime.

Enjoy.

Dreamtime Fire

Dear World,

Here is a video of the fire performance durring the Kan'nal show this year at Dreamtime.

The Daves and Zan set the night on fire while Catlin is rippin' it up onstage with the band.

I had the honor of getting to VJ with Boris durring the Kan'nal show, as well as into the night with Budah Bomb and the rest. Dream = True.

The Sand Queen's Ceremony ala Dreamtime

Dear World,

I have just returned from Dreamtime. It is now moving time and on to Denver.

The beautiful 28 foot triangle screen rendered inadequately in the photo to the left was built by an amazing group of people that I am proud to work with. The screen was used as a projection surface for our performance at Dreamtime this year.

Here is a small gallery of images that I ended up with that.

Well World, I hope all is well.

I hope to see you there.

Happy Birthday Miss Pouty Pants

Dear World,

I just finished this drawing tonight. It is a late birthday present for a friend.

It is based on the hearts she wears on the back of her arms.
It is also based on her request for aliens.

-Alex

PS
I did this randomly and found it highly rewarding.

Everyone is Dark Inside

Dear World,

Though everyone perhaps is dark inside literally, I don't think metaphorically everyone is dark inside.

This is a piece of video art that Stacey and I created for Paul DeMarte of Sad Planet and Doubts Even Here fame.

Take with a grain of salt, and wait for 'pay off' at the end.

I have always enjoyed the warping of perspective and reality this piece pulls off.

Waiting For Rain

Dear World,

This is a music video that I created for Sad Planet a while ago.

This video represents my first dabbles in 3D animation.

Kick back and just enjoy the Eye Candy.

If you like this music video, you should also check out "Welcome To My Psychedelic World" a music video I created for ATP out of Tokyo Japan.

Power Stilts

Dear World,

I have always been impressed by people that can fly.

This is a short 'calling card' for a professional acrobat that I filmed and edited.

The shot where he flys over the camera, was interesting to say the least.

Can you fly?

My Mother's Art

Dear World,

My mother recently recreated "Angel's Arms" in her own medium.

This is an image of the piece in progress.

I really like the detail that she has added.

I also enjoy how the single 'angel' image that I intended, has been interpreted as two 'angel' forms.

Apparently most people see two forms in "Angel's Arms"

How many forms do you see?

A Day In Color City

Dear World,

Enter Color City v2.0

After creating the last Color City animation, I was inspired to try and increase the complexity of the animation, as well as develop more of a narative.

So, what do you think?

Young, Dressed?

How did I look as I lay there?

Constant Beauty

I went to visit my grandparents recently.

They live on their farm in Nebraska.

There was an old orchard up on hill that was recently cut down.

It was right beside this patch of trees that I saw my first rattle snake while riding on my grandfathers motorcycle.

I took this picture of myself as the sun set.

It is important to find beauty in the constant changes that role over us.

The Dance of the Dead

Hello world,

I had a burst of inspiration and drew this picture yesterday.

I will show you how it turns out after I color it in.

I drew this last night at work.

I hope you will not mention this to my boss.

World, you and me, we need to stick together.

Another Day

Hi world,

Do you High Cu?

Just got home from work.
I feel tired but can't sleep.
The heat won't let go.

I will be moving to Denver soon.

I can feel stress levels rising in my life as I think about getting a new job.

So, World, I thought I might share another one of my drawings with you.

I'm not sure how to describe my drawings. Other then to say that I like them.

I guess I will also say that I hope you like them as well.

I like them because they seem to flow from a part of my mind that I would like to get to know better.

(actually, I can't actually remember hoping someone would dislike one of my creations.)

I thought I might share with you her representaiton of my "God's Eye".

I really like what she has come up with.
